• April 23 - 24, 2011. The Multicultural Flute / Instrumentalists Workshop - with ANDREA BRACHFELD, in San Francisco, CA. The components of this workshop will include the following, and all levels and instrumentalists are welcome:
  - Specific practice techniques developed to increase fluidity of improvisation, focus and concentration and to develop discipline for productive practice sessions
  - Techniques to learn how to play Jazz, Latin Jazz and Charanga music (Cuban Salsa music)
  - Lessons from “The Harmonic Approach to Improvisation” by Mike Longo to enhance your Jazz improvisation
  - Learning Yogic breathing and deep relaxation in order to enhance your tone, develop your individual sound as a player, and to prevent typical musician’s injuries including tendonitis and focal dystonia. This will include information from Kenny Werner’s Book, “Effortless Mastery.”
  - A 2-2/12 hour presentation on the Origin of the Flute in Cuban Music: 1900-present which includes the history of Cuba as it pertains to this time period.
  - An introduction to Classical Indian flute music and kirtan
  - Rehearsal sessions of my original music to be played at the conclusion of the workshop in a concert.
